Two Key Signings: Eels Bolster Backline with Herdegen and Morrissey for 2026

💙 The Parramatta Eels are making a strong statement ahead of the upcoming seasons, announcing the crucial signings of Jayde Herdegen and Jasmin Morrissey. These additions are set to inject exciting depth, proven talent, and competitive energy into the Club’s NRLW backline for the 2026 and 2027 campaigns.

The recruitment drive reflects the Eels’ commitment to building a squad capable of sustained success, securing two young stars who have already demonstrated high potential in the league.

Herdegen: The Versatile Playmaker

Jayde Herdegen arrives at Parramatta with a history of development through the Sydney Roosters system, originally starting her rugby league journey with the Wynnum Manly Seagulls. Her versatility is a major asset, allowing her to function effectively as either a five-eighth or halfback. This flexibility provides the Eels coaching staff with crucial options in the halves.

Herdegen also brings valuable representative experience, having pulled on the Maroon jersey for Queensland in both the 2021 U17 Country and the 2022 U19s State of Origin fixtures. Her poise and experience in high-pressure representative environments will be invaluable to the Eels’ attack.

Morrissey: Speed and Outside-Back Strength

Joining the Eels from the Gold Coast Titans is Jasmin Morrissey, a player bringing a combination of strong form and undeniable emerging potential. A Tweed Seagulls junior, Morrissey officially made her NRLW debut in 2025, running out in Round 10 against the Newcastle Knights.

Her renowned speed, physicality, and competitive drive are precisely what the Eels need to strengthen their stocks in the outside backs. Morrissey is expected to become a dynamic presence, creating opportunities and providing defensive stability on the edges.
