🄁 The Ohio State University Marching Band (OSUMB)

Nicknamed “The Best Damn Band in the Land” (TBDBITL), the Ohio State University Marching Band is one of the most iconic collegiate marching bands in the United States. It performs at Ohio State Buckeyes football games and numerous special events throughout the year.

šŸ“œ History:
Founded: 1878 as a student-led military band.

Modern form: Evolved into its current all-brass and percussion instrumentation in the 1930s — one of the largest all-brass collegiate bands in the country.

Known for their precision drill formations and elaborate halftime shows.

šŸŽŗ Traditions:
Script Ohio: One of the most famous traditions in college football and marching band history. Formed by the band marching in a cursive “Ohio” script. The highlight is when a sousaphone player dots the “i.”

Ramp Entrance: The band’s dramatic entry into the stadium is a fan-favorite and a longstanding tradition.

Skull Session: A pregame pep rally featuring a performance by the band and guest performances by other universityĀ ensemblesd
