The 2025 Pro Motocross Championship roared to life this weekend with an explosive season opener at Fox Raceway in Pala, California. The highly anticipated first round lived up to the hype and then some, as fans witnessed sheer dominance from two of the sport’s brightest stars: Jett Lawrence and Haiden Deegan. Both riders swept their respective classes with 1-1 finishes, setting the tone for what could be an unforgettable season.

In the 450 Class, defending champion Jett Lawrence wasted no time reminding everyone why he’s the man to beat. From the drop of the first gate, Lawrence was in complete control. He grabbed the holeshot in Moto 1 and never looked back, leading all 15 laps of the race with poise and surgical precision. His riding was smooth, calculated, and simply untouchable—exactly what you’d expect from someone coming off a perfect season.

Justin Cooper, now in his sophomore year in the 450 division, made a strong statement of his own. He stayed within striking distance of Lawrence throughout the first moto and ultimately secured second place, finishing more than 10 seconds back. Still, his performance showed he’s ready to be a consistent podium threat this year.

Hunter Lawrence, Jett’s older brother and Honda HRC teammate, rounded out the podium with a third-place finish, holding off a hard-charging Eli Tomac. The two riders battled closely throughout the moto, with Tomac eventually settling for fourth, just two seconds behind. Aaron Plessinger completed the top five with a solid showing.

However, not all went smoothly for the top contenders. Chase Sexton suffered a significant crash after the finish line in Moto 1 and was forced to withdraw from the second moto. His absence left a noticeable gap in the competition, and fans will be watching closely to see how quickly he can bounce back.

In Moto 2, Jett Lawrence once again stole the spotlight. This time, however, the battle at the front was far more intense. Eli Tomac, never one to back down, shadowed Lawrence for nearly the entire race. The two put on a thrilling display of speed and skill, with Tomac pushing hard to break through. But Lawrence never flinched. In the final three laps, he managed to stretch the gap, ultimately securing the moto win and the overall victory for the day.

Meanwhile, in the 250 Class, Haiden Deegan put together a flawless performance of his own. He captured both moto wins with authority, showing maturity and aggression that belied his years. Deegan’s speed, line choices, and consistency made it clear he’s going to be a title contender this season.

As the dust settled on Fox Raceway, one thing became abundantly clear: Jett Lawrence and Haiden Deegan are here to dominate. With the championship just getting underway, both riders have fired the opening shot—and the rest of the field is officially on notice.

Round two is just around the corner, and if the action in Pala is any indication, fans are in for an electrifying 2025 Pro Motocross season.
