Maria Sharapova Lists Her Dream Home in Los Angeles for $25 Million

After years of thoughtful planning, building, and living in her custom-designed home in Manhattan Beach, California, retired tennis icon Maria Sharapova is ready for a new chapter. The modern, ocean-view property she once called her sanctuary is now on the market for just under $25 million, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Sharapova originally purchased the site in 2012 for $4.1 million. Over the next several years, she poured her energy, vision, and personal taste into transforming it into a one-of-a-kind modern retreat. With help from the esteemed architecture firm KAA Design, she created a three-story residence that balances sleek, minimalist design with warmth, comfort, and striking attention to detail.

The construction process itself took about three years, but the planning and creative development started long before that. Sharapova wasn’t just a casual participant in the project — she was fully immersed in every step of the process. Architect Grant Kirkpatrick of KAA Design noted in a 2019 Architectural Digest interview, “She was involved in every single aspect of this house, down to the most minute detail and material permutation. To say that she simply collaborated with us does not adequately describe her dedication and influence on the design.”

This hands-on approach extended to the interiors as well. Sharapova worked with interior designer Courtney Applebaum, carefully curating a sophisticated blend of midcentury pieces and antiques that made the house feel both stylish and timeless. “There’s not a chair or table that came into the house that [Sharapova] didn’t analyze, dissect, and discuss. She pays attention to every stitch and groove,” Applebaum recalled.

The result is a home that reflects not only luxury but also the essence of who Sharapova is — focused, elegant, and deeply attuned to her surroundings. With expansive views of the Pacific Ocean, airy open spaces, and refined, earth-toned finishes, the residence stands as a symbol of modern California living at its finest.

While it’s not clear why she’s choosing to move on from her dream property, what’s undeniable is the level of passion and detail that went into creating it. For potential buyers, it represents a rare opportunity to own a true piece of Sharapova’s legacy — a home that is as fiercely designed as her tennis career was fiercely played.
