Round 6 of the 2025 Pro Motocross Championship at the legendary RedBud National delivered high drama, electrifying performances, and an unexpected mechanical failure that shook up the title picture. The Fourth of July weekend always brings the energy, but this year’s installment gave fans a memorable showdown headlined by another dominant showing from Jett Lawrence and a heartbreaking exit for Eli Tomac.
Coming into the weekend, the spotlight was squarely on Jett Lawrence as he continues to solidify himself as the frontrunner in the 450 class. True to form, Lawrence put on a masterclass in both motos, taking home another clean sweep to secure the overall win. But his path to the top wasn’t entirely smooth—and certainly not without competition.
In the first moto, it was Hunter Lawrence who came out of the gate flying, grabbing the holeshot and immediately asserting himself at the front of the pack. Right behind him were R.J. Hampshire and Jett Lawrence, with Jorge Prado and Eli Tomac battling mid-pack. Tomac, a veteran favorite and former champion, had a tough start, beginning the race in 10th place and working his way forward.
The action intensified quickly. R.J. Hampshire made an early pass on Hunter Lawrence to take the lead, while Jorge Prado slipped past Jett Lawrence, dropping him to fourth. However, neither Hampshire’s nor Prado’s position would last long. Hunter Lawrence struck back to reclaim first, and Jett Lawrence began to find his rhythm.
Jett worked his way back into podium contention, first overtaking Hampshire and then engaging in a thrilling back-and-forth battle with his older brother Hunter. The crowd was treated to an epic sibling duel, with Jett making a decisive move and holding off Hunter on a steep downhill section to take over the lead. Once out front, Jett quickly stretched his advantage, cruising to victory and showing once again why he’s the man to beat in 2025.
While Jett dazzled out front, disaster struck for Eli Tomac. Just as the seasoned rider had worked his way up to third place and was poised to contend for a podium finish, mechanical issues began to plague his bike. Moments later, Tomac’s machine failed entirely, forcing him out of the race. It was a crushing blow for the multi-time champion, who had been steadily climbing the points standings after a strong showing in the earlier rounds.
In the second moto, Jett Lawrence continued his dominance, leading wire-to-wire with flawless execution. With his overall win at RedBud, he solidified his lead in the 450 standings and left little doubt about his intentions for the championship.
Hunter Lawrence, despite his early lead in Moto 1, settled for solid finishes in both races, while Hampshire and Prado remained in the mix but couldn’t quite match the pace set by Jett. Tomac’s early exit in the first moto ultimately derailed his entire weekend and may prove to be a defining moment in his 2025 campaign.
As the series heads into Round 7, all eyes remain on Jett Lawrence, whose speed, skill, and poise under pressure continue to elevate him above the field. For Tomac and others chasing him, time is running out—and mechanical gremlins can’t strike again if they hope to keep the championship within reach.
