Gary Clark Jr. headlines free block party at Domain NORTHSIDE for wife’s store opening
AUSTIN, Texas — Grammy-winning blues guitarist Gary Clark Jr. will perform a free block party concert Friday at Domain NORTHSIDE to celebrate his wife Nicole Trunfio’s new maternity wear store BUMPSUIT.
“It started as ‘Hey babe, will you play some songs at the opening?'” Clark said. “I was like, ‘Yeah. Inside or outside?’ Let’s go outside. And then it turned into this block party.”
The concert has generated more buzz than anticipated, according to both Clark and Trunfio. The event marks a rare hometown performance for Clark, who has spent much of the year touring internationally.
Trunfio’s BUMPSUIT store aims to redefine maternity and family-focused retail. “We’re all about community, empowering families, empowering women, amplifying the voices of mothers,” Trunfio said. The store offers weekly events including mommy-and-me music classes, lactation support, and diapering tutorials.
The brand grew out of Trunfio’s own needs as a busy mother of three. “I’m just a woman that’s always on the go and wants a solution that’s effortless, chic,” she said. “I can wear it to school drop-off, my office, date night, whatever, and feel comfortable.”
After the concert, the couple plans to spend the holidays with family at their ranch, with Trunfio’s relatives visiting from Australia.
“It’s going to be a nice fun mashup,” Clark said. “I’ve got a few months back from the road to let my mind catch up with my physical being. I’m going to be surrounded by family, eating good… maybe a little vino sipping happening.”
The free concert begins at 8:30 p.m. on Domain Boulevard, with doors opening at 7 p.m.
