South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers continues to make waves heading into the 2025 college football season. The rising sophomore was one of several top-tier quarterbacks invited to participate in this year’s prestigious Manning Passing Academy—a premier offseason event that brings together some of the brightest young signal-callers in the country for a weekend of drills, mentorship, and media attention.

Held annually and hosted by the legendary Manning family—Archie, Peyton, Eli, and now Texas quarterback Arch Manning—the camp offers not only development and instruction but also a platform for players to showcase their leadership and engage with the national media. For Sellers, who is heading into his second season as the Gamecocks’ starting quarterback, the event provided the perfect setting to reflect on his journey, his goals, and the expectations surrounding South Carolina football this fall.

Speaking during the media day portion of the camp, Sellers touched on a wide range of topics, from his development in Columbia to his relationship with head coach Shane Beamer, and even the high standards that now surround the Gamecock program.

“It’s been a crazy year,” Sellers said with a smile. “I’ve learned a lot—from film study, to slowing the game down mentally, to becoming more of a leader. I feel like I’m in a totally different place now compared to where I was at this point last year.”

Sellers, who took over the starting role late in the 2024 season, helped engineer a remarkable turnaround for South Carolina, guiding the team to six straight wins to close the regular season. That strong finish helped vault him into the national conversation as one of the SEC’s most promising young quarterbacks. His performance, both with his arm and legs, drew praise from coaches and analysts alike, and expectations are high for what he can do in a full season under center.

“I just want to keep getting better every day,” Sellers emphasized. “I’m grateful for the opportunity, but I know I still have a lot to prove. Coach Beamer always talks about building consistency, and that’s what I’m focused on—being consistent in everything, from the locker room to the practice field to Saturdays.”

Sellers also expressed appreciation for being included in the Manning Passing Academy, where he had the chance to interact with and learn from other elite quarterbacks and NFL veterans. “It’s surreal, honestly,” he said. “To be around guys like Peyton and Eli, and see how they approach the game, how they teach—it’s inspiring. You realize this game is about constantly learning.”

When asked about South Carolina’s upcoming season, Sellers acknowledged the pressure but embraced it. “We know people are watching us now,” he said. “But pressure is a privilege. We have a great group, and we believe in each other. Our goal is to take that next step.”

As the 2025 season draws closer, LaNorris Sellers continues to emerge not just as a dynamic playmaker, but as a composed, driven leader for the Gamecocks. If his poise at the Manning Passing Academy is any indication, South Carolina fans have every reason to believe that their rising star quarterback is ready to lead with confidence and purpose.
