After what The Athletic aptly described as “six hours and 39 minutes of madness,” the Los Angeles Dodgers emerged victorious over the Toronto Blue Jays in Game Three of the World Series, sealing the win with a dramatic walk-off home run from nine-time All-Star first baseman Freddie Freeman in the bottom of the 18th inning.

The marathon matchup — one of the longest games in World Series history — kept fans on edge deep into the night, with both teams battling through scoreless frames and missed opportunities before Freeman’s decisive swing sent Dodger Stadium into a frenzy. The victory gave Los Angeles a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series, edging them closer to another championship.

However, the loss carried more than scoreboard implications for Toronto. The Blue Jays may now face a major setback after four-time All-Star outfielder George Springer exited the game in the seventh inning. Springer, who had already been hit by two pitches earlier in the postseason, appeared to suffer discomfort in his right side following a swing and was forced to leave the contest. His status for Game Four remained uncertain as of Tuesday evening.

By 5 p.m. Eastern time, the Dodgers had already posted their lineup for the next game, while Toronto had yet to finalize theirs — a possible indication that the team was awaiting further evaluation of Springer’s condition.

Game Four is scheduled to begin shortly after 8 p.m. Eastern, with the Dodgers looking to extend their lead and the Blue Jays aiming to regroup and even the series. For both teams, the lingering fatigue from Game Three’s marathon could prove as pivotal as any pitch thrown under the bright lights of October.
