PENNA BACK ON THE NORTHERN BEACHES
The Manly Warringah Sea Eagles have officially confirmed the return of David Penna, with the experienced coach appointed as the club’s NSW Cup and Transition Coach for the next two seasons.
Penna’s return brings a familiar face back into the Sea Eagles’ coaching structure as Manly continues preparations for the next phase of its football program.
A FAMILIAR FACE RETURNS
The appointment marks Penna’s return to the Northern Beaches after more than a decade working in coaching roles connected to the Sea Eagles.
His previous association with Manly stretches back to some of the most successful periods in the club’s modern history, including the 2008 and 2011 premiership eras.
That experience gives Penna an extensive understanding of the club’s culture, development systems and expectations.
NSW CUP ROLE
Penna will take responsibility for the club’s NSW Cup program while also working in the transition space between emerging players and the NRL squad.
The role is particularly important for a club looking to develop young talent and ensure players progressing through the pathways are prepared for the demands of first-grade football.
His appointment follows the recent departure of Brett Kimmorley, creating an opening that Manly has now filled with a coach already familiar with the organisation.

“This is an extremely important role, a challenging role, and one that I know Dave is very well suited for,” Foran said.

Penna’s responsibilities will extend beyond simply coaching the NSW Cup team.
