Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape has lauded the Brisbane Broncos for their continued efforts in inspiring young people across the nation through sport and community engagement.

Speaking during a recent event celebrating the team’s outreach initiatives, Marape commended the Broncos for their positive influence on Papua New Guinea’s youth, noting that their success on and off the field serves as a powerful example of discipline, teamwork, and resilience.

“The Brisbane Broncos have not only shown excellence in rugby league but have also become role models for thousands of young Papua New Guineans who dream of achieving greatness,” Marape said. “Their commitment to community programs and youth development reflects the true spirit of sportsmanship and leadership.”

The Prime Minister highlighted how rugby league continues to play a unifying role in PNG society, bridging communities and giving young people a sense of identity and purpose. He also praised the Broncos’ ongoing partnerships with local sporting organizations and schools, which provide mentorship and development opportunities for aspiring athletes.

Marape expressed his hope that the Broncos’ involvement in the region would further strengthen cultural and sporting ties between Papua New Guinea and Australia. “Sport has the power to inspire change, and the Broncos’ influence has gone beyond the game. They’ve become a symbol of what hard work and dedication can achieve,” he added.

The Broncos have long enjoyed strong support in PNG, where rugby league is the country’s most popular sport. Their outreach programs, including training clinics and youth workshops, have continued to motivate young players across the nation.

Marape concluded by encouraging PNG’s youth to follow the Broncos’ example of perseverance and teamwork, saying, “If our young people can embrace those values, there’s no limit to what they can achieve.”
