This Saturday marks the end of an era in professional motocross. Jeremy Martin, one of the sport’s most decorated 250cc riders, will take his final ride at Spring Creek MX Park in Millville, Minnesota — the track owned by his parents, where his journey began.
Martin, 32, captured back-to-back Pro Motocross national championships in 2014 and 2015 and finished runner-up in 2017 and 2020. Known for his grit, work ethic, and relentless drive to win, he earned 20 overall wins fourth most all-time in the 250 class.
But after years of highs and a long list of injuries — including broken ribs, a broken back, a shattered wrist, and concussions — Martin is ready to step away.
“It’s a drug when you win,” Martin said. “But this is a young man’s game now.”
His path to the top wasn’t an accident. Growing up just a football field away from the Millville starting gate, Jeremy and his siblings were practically raised on two wheels. He and his brother Alex, a standout racer himself, were home-schooled at times to accommodate race travel.
Martin’s breakout came in 2014 when he dominated the 250 class, winning five of 12 rounds. He defended his title in 2015, edging Marvin Musquin in a season-long battle. Yet the years that followed brought as many setbacks as podiums, with injuries derailing multiple seasons.
Still, Martin always circled Millville on his calendar. He’s won there three times and has never finished worse than fourth. Saturday’s race will be less about placement and more about closure a final chapter written on familiar dirt.
After initially planning to retire quietly, a last-minute call from Star Yamaha this season reignited his passion. But another crash at Hangtown convinced him to race just once more at home.
“I want to do well,” Martin said, “but this one’s for me. I want to enjoy it.”
Fans in Millville will cheer for a local legend and a career defined by heart. Jeremy Martin may be stepping away from racing, but his legacy and the tire marks he’s left behind will be impossible to forget.
