The Parramatta Eels are reportedly looking overseas as they search for new leadership, with former St Helens chief executive Mike Rush emerging as a potential candidate for the club’s vacant CEO position.
The development comes after Parramatta confirmed that Jim Sarantinos will step down as chief executive at the conclusion of the 2026 NRL season, ending more than a decade of service to the club.
Reports indicate Rush has already held discussions with Parramatta as the club considers its options for the next chapter.
Rush’s St Helens Legacy
Rush brings extensive experience from his remarkable 27-year association with St Helens, where he worked across numerous roles before becoming CEO in 2013.
His time at the English club included positions in youth development, coaching, performance and general management before he moved into the chief executive role.
Rush ultimately spent 13 years running the Saints’ organisation, overseeing one of the most successful periods in the club’s modern history.
A Record of Success
During Rush’s tenure as CEO, St Helens established itself as one of Super League’s leading clubs.
The Saints reached four consecutive Grand Finals between 2019 and 2022 and won the World Club Challenge in 2023 against Penrith. The club also enjoyed multiple major honours during Rush’s time in charge.
That experience could be particularly relevant to Parramatta as the Eels look to strengthen their football and organisational structures.
