The college basketball world was hit with a major bombshell as former Kentucky Wildcats guard Kerr Kriisa was arrested by the FBI, according to a report from Jack Pilgrim of Kentucky Sports Radio (KSR).
The 25-year-old Estonian native is reportedly facing federal charges tied to an alleged “multimillion-dollar fraud scheme.” Federal authorities indicate that the investigation stems from activities dating back to his time with the West Virginia Mountaineers during the 2023–24 season. Kriisa is currently being extradited back to West Virginia, where he is scheduled to make his initial court appearance.
Kriisa’s collegiate career was heavily defined by the transfer portal and untimely injuries. After starting his career with a three-year stint at Arizona and spending one season in Morgantown, he transferred to Kentucky for the 2024–25 season. His time in Lexington was short-lived; he appeared in just nine games during head coach Mark Pope’s inaugural season with the Wildcats before a broken foot prematurely ended his year. He later completed his college eligibility with the Cincinnati Bearcats during the 2025–26 season.
The surprising arrest comes just as Kriisa was announced to return to Lexington to play for the Kentucky alumni team, La Familia, in the upcoming tournament. No further legal documents or specific details regarding the fraud allegations have been made public at this time.
