✍️ The Parramatta Eels have significantly strengthened their NRLW roster, announcing the dual signing of promising young stars Jayde Herdegen and Jasmin Morrissey. Both players have committed to the club for the 2026-2027 NRLW seasons, injecting exciting depth and proven talent into the Eels’ backline as the team looks to build a powerful future in the National Rugby League Women’s competition.
Herdegen Brings Queensland Pedigree to Eels
Jayde Herdegen, a versatile playmaker, joins the Parramatta Eels from the Sydney Roosters, where she previously transitioned after starting her league career with the Wynnum Manly Seagulls. Herdegen’s ability to seamlessly switch between five-eighth and halfback makes her an invaluable asset to the Eels’ attack.
Her pedigree is underscored by her representative honours in the fiercely competitive Queensland system. She played for the Maroons in the 2021 U17 Country side and, notably, in the 2022 U19s State of Origin clash. This experience at a high-pressure, elite level suggests she possesses the maturity and game management skills necessary to thrive in the Blue and Gold jersey for the 2026 season and beyond. Her arrival promises enhanced direction and leadership in the Eels’ crucial spine positions.
Morrissey Adds Speed and Strength to Outside Backs
The second significant acquisition is Jasmin Morrissey, who arrives from the Gold Coast Titans. Morrissey, a product of the Tweed Seagulls junior pathway, made a notable NRLW debut in the 2025 season, running out in Round 10 against the Newcastle Knights.
As an outside back, Morrissey brings a compelling combination of speed, physicality, and raw competitiveness. Her emerging potential and strong form over the last few seasons were key factors in the Eels’ decision to secure her services. She is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening Parramatta’s outside-back stocks, providing coach staff with more dynamic options on the wing and potentially in the centres. Her inclusion adds genuine finishing threat and defensive stability to the squad.
Eels Management Excited for the Future
Parramatta Eels General Manager of Football, Mark O’Neill, expressed his delight with the double signing, emphasizing the long-term vision for the NRLW team.
“Jayde and Jasmin are outstanding young talents who will bolster the Eels’ backline and bring new energy to our squad,” O’Neill stated. “Both athletes have already shown maturity and drive early in their careers, and we believe they will thrive in our system. We are excited to see what they can achieve in Blue and Gold.”
The commitment of both Herdegen and Morrissey through the 2027 NRLW seasons demonstrates the Eels’ proactive approach to player retention and recruitment, focusing on developing a stable core of talented young athletes. Both players are scheduled to join the squad for pre-season preparations in early 2026, marking the official start of their journey with the Eels.
