Despite initial hopes, German heavy metal band ACCEPT has been forced to postpone their planned “Too Mean To Die” European Tour from January 2022 to January/February 2023 due to unpredictable, ongoing circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The tour was scheduled to begin on January 15, 2022, but the band acknowledged that current viral conditions and complex regulatory restrictions across the continent made proceeding impossible.
Citing Incalculable Circumstances
ACCEPT guitarist Wolf Hoffmann expressed deep regret over the decision: “As much as we want to, the current Covid situation just doesn’t allow us to go forward with this 2022 tour. It’s a super tough call, but we have no choice but to postpone once again. We wanted to play this tour badly. We had a killer setlist prepared with lots of new songs from the Too Mean to Die album. I’m very sorry for the fans and of course everybody in the band is very disappointed. But hey, life goes on…”
Promoter Gerald Wilkes of Continental Concerts elaborated on the logistical nightmare: “The ACCEPT tour was planned through a total of 16 countries with very different regional infection situations, which are currently changing very quickly and therefore are incalculable for all involved. The legal requirements vary from country to country – even often from city to city.”
Consolation Prize: New Digital Live Single
As a small consolation for the postponement, ACCEPT immediately released a new digital live single: ‘The Undertaker,’ available to fans on November 5th.
Additionally, ACCEPT and Nuclear Blast announced a new limited edition of the hit album Too Mean To Die. A special version will be released on silver vinyl (2 LP) on February 18, 2022. This collectible edition is extremely exclusive, with only 750 copies worldwide available for pre-order.
Tour Rebooked for 2023
On a positive note, the band has successfully secured the venues for the rescheduled tour. Wilkes confirmed, “The tour is confirmed for 2023 and tickets remain valid.” The new 2023 ACCEPT tour dates are set to be officially announced very soon.
