🏍️ In a highl anticipated appearance at the 2025 Pro Motocross Championship preseason press conference in Pala, California, 21-year-old racing superstar Jett Lawrence opened the panel with a formal statement addressing a controversial video that recently circulated widely across social media.
⚖️ Legal Troubles and Financial Loss
Lawrence confirmed that the viral video scandal comes at a difficult time, as he is still embroiled in a legal battle with his former agent, Lucas Mirtl. This suit, which began in January, centers on allegations of a significant financial loss. Over $600,000 reportedly went missing from an account connected to merchandise sales and the “Lawrence Factory Fan Zone VIP lounge,” with over half the amount allegedly spent by Mirtl on personal expenses, including divorce costs.
“As most of you know I am going through a legal matter right now and I am going to leave that up to the lawyers to deal with,” Lawrence stated regarding the ongoing financial dispute.
🗣️ Accountability for Inappropriate Language
The main focus of Lawrence’s statement, however, was a leaked private video, presumably recorded several years ago, in which the rider used a derogatory slur. The clip quickly spread during the off-weekend between the Supercross finale and the Motocross season opener. Lawrence had previously avoided commenting on social media, opting instead to deliver a formal, public apology at the press conference.
“First of all, I want to say I am deeply sorry for any hurt I have caused,” Lawrence began. “It has been a tough year and I want to take full accountability for inappropriate language.”
The young star admitted to using “inappropriate language in casual conversations with friends” and stressed that such behavior is “not acceptable.”
🙏 A Commitment to Growth
Acknowledging his maturity level, Lawrence took personal responsibility and pledged to improve his conduct.
“I can’t hide behind the immaturity anymore. I need to work on becoming a better person, and I just really hope everyone can accept my apology. I just want to take this time to apologize to the sport for the distraction we have caused,” he concluded, aiming to quell the controversy and refocus attention on the upcoming racing season.
