In a major and highly consequential last-minute change to the roster, Eli Tomac was named as the official replacement for the injured Chase Sexton to lead Team USA at the 2025 FIM Motocross of Nations at Ironman Raceway in Crawfordsville, Indiana.

The original Team USA lineup—comprising Sexton, Tomac, and Haiden Deegan—was announced to great fanfare, a powerful trio ready to compete for the coveted Chamberlain Trophy on home soil. However, an unfortunate racing incident at the final round of the SuperMotocross (SMX) Championship left Chase Sexton sidelined with an injury, forcing him to withdraw from the event. The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) swiftly turned to the veteran statesman of the sport. Eli Tomac, a two-time AMA Supercross and four-time Pro Motocross Champion, was the natural and most capable choice to step into the MXGP class role.

Tomac’s resume includes leading Team USA to a dominant victory in the 2022 MXoN at Red Bud, where he captained the team to their first win in over a decade. Despite the very short notice for his Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha team, Tomac accepted the call, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his country. He joins the remaining team member, Haiden Deegan, and a newly selected third rider (following further lineup adjustments), creating a dynamic and highly motivated group ready to battle against the world’s best international teams.
